Sergio R. Reyes was born in Guatemala City in 1974. His mother, an art history professor and his father, a history teacher and classical music lover, gave him a rich musical and artistic background.

At the age of 9, Sergio started his musical career with violin studies. He studied at the National Conservatory and took private lesson with his mentor, Prof. Manuel Alvarado. He was member of the Guatemala Youth Orchestra from the age of 10 until the age of 16 and represented his country in many international music festivals.

At the age of 17, Sergio recieved a scholarship at Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, where he finished his high school studies specialized in violin and composition. In 1993, Sergio moved to NYC where he continued his studies at Manhattan School of Music and Brooklyn College.

Sergio's artistic and musical career has been very rich and diverse, participating classical, latin american and jazz music projects. He worked for as a performer and music consultant for Horizon Concerts, a non-profit foundation that sponsors free classical music concerts throughout the metropolitan area. He has performed in Forever Tango on Broadway and Tango: Historias Breves at NYU, as well as with the Eternal Tango Orchestra, X-Tango, and other groups. He has shared the stage with world famous mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade and renowned bandoneonists Héctor del Curto and Tito Castro, among others.
